I saw a LinkedIn post earlier this week where Timpson were offering free dry cleaning to anybody unemployed who needed a suit cleaning for a job interview.

The idea lifted my spirits and made me smile. How wonderful that a CEO has such love and kindness they thought to propose this. Plus, it wasn’t a social media gimmick – the LinkedIn post wasn’t written by them, rather it was posted by someone who’d stumbled across the offer and admired their kindness.
Certainly, at times in my life I have experienced real hardship, and I can imagine Timpson’s offer lifting me up. Being jobless leaves you feeling vulnerable and potentially questioning your self-worth. An interview will be a big deal: imagine turning up in a crisp suit knowing the awesome staff at Timpson were routing for you, what a massive psychological boost!
On seeing the post I instantly clicked to repost it, but felt compelled to pay the kindness forward. So, I reposted offering all Timpson employees a free teeth clean at Carew Dental. It felt amazing to share the love.

Equally, I didn’t want my offer to be a gimmick, so I then went along to my local Timpson branch and chatted with the employees about free suit cleaning, and the Carew Dental free clean and polish appointments, encouraging them to share with every colleague they knew and to take us up on the offer.
It was a fantastic visit, I went loaded with goody bags and chatted to the guys. They were lovely and told me a bit about themselves and said I’d made their day. Then they wanted to pay forward kindness and said they were going to review the practice and share what we’d done for them. It all just felt so warming and we were all smiling and happy.

As part of my journalling, I practice daily gratitude, and this is another version of that. It’s uplifting and although minuscule in the grand scheme of our lives, brings so much value. Showing humanity and appreciating others – it’s probably the best happiness drug in the world! 💛🩶
